From the very first steps
After completing the cause of liberation and unification in the period of 1975 to 1985, Vietnam entered the stage of restoring and developing production as well as rebuilding material and technical bases. In this circumstance, in 1984, Tran Phu Electric Mechanical was established at 41 Phuong Liet, Hanoi on the basis of merging two enterprises under the Department of Construction of Hanoi with the purpose of manufacturing machines and equipment for the construction industry.

The effective implementation of the Master Plan for electricity development phase I to phase III has helped the power industry complete major projects, which are national strategic sources of power and electricity grids including construction items of the first 220kV electric line. This initial success also created a turning point in the development of a unified Vietnam electricity system, and the demand for electrical equipment is increasing. As a manufacturing unit serving the country, in 1988, Tran Phu Electric Mechanical invested in the production of electric cables, directly contributed to the historic 500kV North-South transmission line, connecting the power source of the two regions of South-North, marking the unification of the national electricity system.
Determining the direction associated with the national electricity industry, in 1994, Tran Phu Electric Engineering continued to invest in manufacturing civil wires for the civil construction industry. At the same time, Tran Phu decided to close the production of mechanical machinery and equipment gas for the construction industry.
Innovation period
In the late years of the 20th century, the overall situation of the country was very difficult, however, the need for industrialization and modernization was very urgent, Tran Phu Electric Mechanical Company surpassed the most valuable resource which is its own people. The collective of Tran Phu officials and employees have joint hands researching and finally invented the continuous aluminum extrusion rolling mill line that qualified the GOT standards. This invention was honored to receive the 1996 VIFOTEC innovation and science award which has become the first VIFOTEC award granted to a unit for electric cables. This important step helped Tran Phu significantly improve its production capacity, meeting the demand of high load growth of up to 15% then. This is also an important foundation for a leading enterprise in the application of science and technology of today's electricity industry.

In the following period, the electricity industry continued to innovate and develop. When the power system is constantly growing, the power sources are increasingly diverse, Tran Phu has synchronised the development of transmission grids and distribution grid systems. Tran Phu's contributions to the growth of the electricity industry are recognized by the title "Labor Hero of the Renovation Period" (1998).
Integration period
Entering the 21st century, Vietnam's electricity industry continues to ensure power supply in terms of growth rate, catching up with other countries in the region and around the world. The requirement for not only electrical equipment but also technology in production and operation is increasingly advanced. Facing this demand, Tran Phu has constantly improved the system of machinery, invested heavily in modern technologies. Each development milestone of the company is a new driving force for the development of the whole industry. Tran Phu has received the European award of quality in 2006 awarded in Paris, equitized enterprises in 2010, built an independent national testing laboratory in 2012, and put into use a large-scale logistics system in 2018.

In the context of the open economy, Vietnam's electricity industry is still facing many more challenges when entering new markets in Southeast Asia. Tran Phu's newly completed and put into operation project in 2019 at VSIP Hai Duong will be an effective support for the company to contribute to the country's electricity industry.
